Candied Cinnamon Nuts
Difficulty Level: Easy
Preparation Time: 30 Minutes
Cooking Time: 30 Minutes
Servings: Approximately 7 Cups
A friend of mine gave me this recipe many years ago, and somehow I never had the chance to try it. While looking for ideas for Mishloach Manos (for the holiday of Purim) that can be prepared in advance, I found this recipe and decided to try it out. It really is as delicious as she claimed, and the house smells amazing while it is baking.

Ingredients

3 cups almonds
2 cups pecan halves
2 cups walnut halves
1½ cups sugar
¼ cup water
2–3 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

1. Place nuts on a lined baking sheet and toast for about 10 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, stir together the sugar, water and cinnamon in a bowl.
3. Remove the nuts from the oven and pour mixture over them. Using a wooden spoon, mix them together lightly, until evenly coated.
4. Bake for 10 minutes. Toss or mix lightly to recoat the nuts and bake for 10 minutes longer. Mix again immediately after it comes out of the oven. Be careful — it’s very hot!

TIP: You can make these any time of the year and store in an airtight container. Use them tossed in salads, sweet soups, or just for snacking.
