Shmoose
Difficulty Level: Easy
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
For special occasions, my mother always makes a mousse that’s used as an “intermezzo” or palette cleanser. In my family we call it “shmoose,” a combination of “schnapps” and “mousse,” and serve it in small schnapps cups — though many request it served in 8-ounce cups!

Ingredients

8 oz (1 cup) pareve whipping cream

1 cup sugar

1/2 Tbsp coffee diluted in 1 Tbsp vanilla extract

1 egg

1/4 cup  Everclear Grain Alcohol (available in liquor stores)

Directions

Place pareve whipping cream in the bowl of your mixer. Beat until stiff. Add remaining ingredients and mix until combined. Use a spoon to fill cups.

Note        “Shmoose” can be frozen. Allow to thaw 20 minutes before serving.

This recipe is part of a Mishloach Manos set "A Spot of Tea".  It originally appeared in Mishpacha Magazine.
