By now, you may have heard of the awesome initiative that is rocking the Jewish nation, in your city and worldwide. The Shabbos Project, spearheaded by the chief rabbi of South Africa, and following its unprecedented success last year, has set the very ambitious goal of uniting Jews everywhere, under one common banner, and it’s happening! The goal is to get as many Jews as possible to “keep it together” – that is, to observe one halachic Shabbos from sunset to sundown.
Did you know that over 150 different cities have signed up, literally spanning the globe? The date has been set for October 24, with a big challah bake as the kickoff, the Thursday before. An after Shabbat concert is planned for all those that wish to celebrate this amazing show of unity and “achdut” ( togetherness).
It is said that when Jews stand together, G-d listens to their prayers even more. With the holy days of awe coming, what better time is there to show Him how we care about His laws and people. Not only do I endorse this project, I have had the awesome opportunity of working together with the talented and wonderful team of volunteers who are spending hours preparing for this wonderful event.
We also made this adorable video that will give you one of the best Shabbos tips you have gotten in a while. So what are you waiting for? Have you signed up yet? Join at http://www.theshabbosproject.org/ and host, invite or keep Shabbat for the first time! This is an experience not to be missed.
