Sharon Lurie, the talented “Butchers Wife” takes us beyond our basic recipes, and shows us 3 new and original ways to use beef. Osso Buco is a personal favorite, though I am sure that all 3 ideas will be enjoyed.
-Sharon Lurie is an author, food consultant, radio personality and writer for many local and international Jewish publications and websites. She is married to the owner of the largest kosher butchery and cold cut factory in South Africa. As a qualified PR consultant, with training in Speech and Drama, she decided to put her money where her meat went and show the world that every kind of cuisine imaginable could be created using kosher meat. It wasn’t culinary skills that had to be shechted, just any previous misconceptions about kosher meat. Sharon is married to Ian, they have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Her first book, ‘Cooking with the Kosher Butcher’s Wife is written in a humorous, fun style. After 25 years of experimenting, creating and improvising, Sharon finally dispels the old myth that kosher meat is tough, dry and boring! She proves kosher meat is of the highest grade and quality, and by means of notes, tips, tried and tested recipes, helps the reader prepare mouth-watering beef, lamb, veal and poultry dishes. All the recipes are suitable for people who are lactose intolerant together with many gluten free recipes. This award winning, best seller was recently endorced by the Kosher Deli group of butcheries in Europe who reprinted her book.
