After many months, (years really,) I am finally ready and very excited to introduce my new book Cooking Inspired. Cooking Inspired is the best of KosherScoop.com. All of your feedback via personal letters and emails helped me choose which recipes to compile, and the style and format you’d love for this treasure. All of the your favourite authors from the site are featured, as well as some brand new recipes! It is also a visual masterpiece since I’ve included tons of beautiful photographs, including a few by the award winning Andre Reichmann.
Cooking Inspired is all about the small things in life that inspire us, the ideas, backgrounds, and ideals that shape the way we cook. Its about taking an everyday chore, feeding the family, and adding meaning into it, in a simple and easy way. But you will read all that in the introduction to the book. For now – stop, think, and look around to notice the large or small things that inspire you to cook. A seasonal vegetable, a special occasion, a family tradition, or perhaps an endearing smile. Snap a picture to capture your inspiration, add a caption, and share it with us! We will be adding some of our favourites below and on our various Social Media platforms (hope you follow us everywhere!)

Below are some of the things that have inspired my cooking recently. Cherries and Green Onions at my favorite place (you guessed it, the Farmer’s Market!), An Ice Cream Party, an infused oil display as pictured above (that prompted purchasing ALOT of bottles, oils, herbs and spices, and some funnels!), a restaurant dish in Italy (that inspired me to purchase a pasta maker!), chestnuts for sale, and kids playing in the snow (definitely inspires some hot cocoa!)

Today’s best inspiration comes from reader Shaynda who writes : ‘As soon as yom tov was over, I defrosted my freezer. With all the cooking I had done, it really needed it! Now that we’ve finished 9 days of yom tov meals, my freezer is empty and needs replenishing. That’s what inspires me to cook!’

Wow everyone has been sending in such great inspiration! This picture reminded me of my mother-in-law’s chicken soup as well! Rita Gross says “My late mother-in-law (z”l) was a fabulous cook and I am inspired to create beautiful meals knowing that she is guiding me every step of the way from her special place above. Her special chicken soup recipe has everyone licking their soup bowls every Shabbat at out house.

Check out this inspiring submission! ’Our inspiration for cooking always begins in Yenta’s kitchen, where we go on Tusday mornings to help cook for people in hospitals, Bichur Cholim Toronto. Our good friend Lisa K. can get us in the mood for chicken and persain rice or even gefilte fish as early as 10am. Tuesday night dinner is a favorite for the kids because we rush home after those delightful smells, to duplicate what Lisa has tempted us with so early in the morning!!’ – Sheila J. and Nikki S.
