Quince are in season, and add a delicious dimension to apple sauce. This 5 minute dish is the perfect accompaniment to fried latkes, or the finale to a heavy meal.
- 4 quinces -
- 2 ripe pears -
- 2 eating apples ( such as McIntosh) -
- 2 cooking apples (such as Cortland) -
- 2 tbsp vanilla sugar -
Preheat oven to 350.
Peel and quarter all the fruit.
Place in a Pyrex dish, sprinkle with vanilla sugar and cover tightly with foil. Bake for 1 hour.
Mash with back of a fork, or for finer consistency blend with immersion blender.
Refrigerate up to 1 week, tightly covered.
